COMPANY HISTORY
The year was 2001, and Sean Schulgen (Mustang Realty’s Broker), who was a licensed Broker, but working in the Oil and Gas industry at the time, had referred a couple friends to a licensed agent who had launched an advertising campaign as being an “expert” in apartment location in the Uptown area of Dallas. After several unsuccessful attempts of trying find a suitable property to Lease, the agent basically gave-up on trying to help. The most concerning aspect of the agent’s deciding to quit was that the clients in question were not “high maintenance” and/or the agent gave no notice to the client that she was not going to be able to further assist Sean’s friends in their search (she simply stopped returning phone calls/emails). In an attempt to mitigate the time his friends had wasted working with the other agent, Sean stepped in and was able to find a viable option over the course of a couple of hours making some phone calls.
The process was intriguing enough for Sean to take a leap of faith, therein leaving the energy sector (if you are questioning his logic, please note oil was only $20 per barrel in 2001) and try his hand at launching a real estate firm. It was never Sean’s intent to “reinvent the wheel,” but he did appreciate (from the poor service his friends had received) that having a brokerage with tons of licensed agents, but little or no experience is to the detriment of the client. In that regard, Sean was careful to keep the firm boutique in size and only hire quality Agents who personified the company’s mission. Within the next couple of years, Mustang Realty opened offices that serviced the Austin, Houston and San Antonio markets in both a residential and commercial capacity. Over the past 10 years, our brand and aspirations have evolved, and in addition to maintaining an outstanding agent roster, we have also expanded our original brokerage services to include a division solely dedicated to Property Management. It is our goal to be the company that provides the absolute best services to our clients on every level– this means that whether you are renting a $500 a month apartment or purchasing a multi-million dollar mansion, we want to be your real estate brokerage of choice.
